Video game publisher Atlus is officially confirming that it is working on Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, a game that was first revealed yesterday during an announcement from Nintendo.

The official announcement is pretty sparse when it comes to details, but it seems that development work on the new game will be handled by the core team at Atlus and by Intelligent Systems, a studio that works closely with Nintendo.

Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem is a crossover game and that means the two teams will have to reconcile the various systems of the two franchises it is based on.

The game currently has no launch date and it will be delivered exclusively on the new Wii U from Nintendo.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is set to arrive on the 3DS handheld in February in the United States.

Shin Megami Tensei 4 does not currently have plans for a Western launch.
