A while ago, the tabloids noticed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had started to style their daughter Shiloh in a different fashion from what they’d done until then. More specifically, they allowed her to be a tomboy, which sparked some talk about whether they weren’t trying to turn her into a boy. Far from it, Angelina says again in a recent interview cited by the Huffington Post.

For some reason or another, the public and the US weeklies are taking a major interest in Shiloh and whether she dressed like a boy because she wants to or her parents are forcing her to do so. The same goes for her hair, which was cut short a few months back – but it was precisely Shiloh wanted a cut, Angelina reveals. She has a very strong personality and it’s already manifest in her style of dress and the way she chooses to wear her hair, Angelina explains.

“It’s not my choice. I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl, who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is. I think people think kids should be a certain way, but I feel they should wear what they feel like wearing and they should express themselves. Shiloh cried one night and said, ‘Please cut my hair off. I don’t want to have long hair.’ I’m not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should,” Angelina says.

“She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers. Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. She dresses like a little dude. It’s how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits. Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet. Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around,” the actress was also saying in a Vanity Fair interview in May this year, as we informed you at the time.

That is to say, Angelina will not dress Shiloh up like a little doll only because other parents would do that to their daughters. If Shiloh wants to wear boys’ clothes and have a boyish haircut, she will get her wish, the megastar says.

I THINK IT IS ALRIGHT FOR SHILOH TO DRESS THE WAY SHE WISHES, I HAVE AN 11 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WHO ALSO WILL NOT WEAR DRESSES, SHE IS COMPLETELY AN OUTDOORS PERSON, SHE LIKE TO CATCH SNAKES, LIZARDS AND FROGS AND HER PARENTS LET HER DRESS THE WAY SHE WANTS. DO NOT FORCE A CHILD TO DO OR EAT THINGS THEY DO NOT WANT TO LET THEM UNDERSTAND RIGHT FROM WRONG BUT ALSO LET THEM BE THEMSELVES.
