Back in 2008, Shia LaBeouf sat down for an interview with Jay Leno to promote a movie he had coming out, “Eagle Eye.” Video of it has reemerged online, offering “confirmation” that Shia had it right about government spying all along.

The actor told Leno that they had an FBI consultant on the set of the movie, and he revealed that they could practically eavesdrop on every citizen of the US through a variety of methods.

“I remember talking to an FBI consultant telling me that they can use your ADT box to get the stuff going on in your house. Or that they can use OnStar to shut your car down,” Shia said at the time, as the video above will confirm.

“He told me that one in five phone calls which you make are recorded and logged. And I laughed at him, and then he played back a phone conversation I had had two years prior to joining the picture... And it was one of those ‘What are you wearing?’ kind of things,” he added.

At the time, people thought that he was simply rambling because he was paranoid or liked to play into the whole conspiracy “farce.” Today, he’s hailed as some sort of whistleblower.

So, what do you make of Shia’s statement in light of the PRISM scandal?
