Chelsea fans couldn't be happier. After buying Michael Ballack from Munich and Kalou from Feyenoord, Roman Abramovici has yet another gift for the "blues" fans. Even if many rumors were in the media concerning Shevchenko's move to Stanford Bridge, now it's official.
The Ukrainian has signed a 4-year contract with Chelsea on Wednesday, that will bring AC Milan around 40
million Euros. And Sheva couldn't be happier. At first, he wanted to make sure everybody knows that money was not the key issue to his move: "Had money been my motivation for coming, I would probably have stayed in Milan".
Then, he said a few words about how it feels to be a Premier League player: "I am here for the challenge and the excitement of playing in the Premier League. I am going from one big club to another and joining a team of champions. There is a right moment to join a football club and I think I have arrived here at the perfect time. The Champions League has to be a realistic target for next season but it is not just about the Champions League. Chelsea is going for their third Premiership as well and I like the club's mentality of wanting to win every game they play".
Since his new challenge is, for the time being, the World Cup in Germany, he admitted that his transfer couldn't have had a better timing: "I think that my transfer here, before the World Cup, will give me more of a reason to prove that I am Chelsea material. It also helped me clear my head. I will play with less stress now and I'll only focus on my national team".
