
Friday, February 3, Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow have split just weeks before their expected nuptials, as the couple announced in a joint statement. The seven-times Tour de France champion and the rock star announced their engagement in September 2005.
It would have been Sheryl's first marriage and Lance's second. From his previous marriage, the ex-to-be-groom has already got three children.
"After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision to split up. We both have a deep love and respect for each other and we ask that everyone respect our privacy during this very difficult time," the statement of the two was saying.
The 33-year old Armstrong and the 43-year-old Crow met at a charity event in October 2003 and instantly fell in love. Armstrong has survived cancer and has campaigned for funding for victims and survivors of the disease.
Both of them are fulfilled successful people. On Tour de France last July Armstrong went on to his record seventh consecutive triumph, while Crow had a global hit with "All I Wanna Do" and has gone on to win nine Grammy awards some years ago.
