Amazing news for “Sherlock” fans, the BBC One series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: season 3 will premiere on the first day of the New Year. What better way to kick off 2014 is there?

Confirmation of this comes from BBC One’s Twitter account, with the hashtag started especially for the occasion, #SherlockLives. Because, obviously, no matter how shocking season 2 finale was, Sherlock didn’t die when he jumped off that building under the terrifying gaze of Dr. Watson.

We’ll find out how he staged his own death in the first episode of this new season. “Sherlock Holmes - in *living* memory, #TheEmptyHearse premieres Jan 1st 2014,” the network says on Twitter, in a post accompanying the photo above.

That is an actual hearse that went through London spreading the news, by the way. The release date is spelled in flowers, under the character’s name, a truly original way of getting attention.

“We can also confirm that #Sherlock episode 2 will be shown on Sun 5th Jan and episode 3 on the 12th. #SherlockLives,” another announcement reads.

Who else is super excited about January now?
