14 DAY TRIAL // Shazam, the company behind music recognition technology that enables anyone with a mobile phone to identify music that is playing wherever they are, recently released a new Premium version for Android smartphone users. Shazam Encore for Android can be acquired for $4.99, €3.99 and £2.99 and provides users unlimited tagging, as well as unlimited recommendations.

Consumers want to find as much information about a song or an artist and they want it fast,” said Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam. “Whether they now opt for our freemium or paid-for service, that is exactly what our Android customers can rely on from us – a fast and easy way to discover, buy and share music in more ways than ever before.”
The free version of the application will remain free, but will be limited to five taggs per month. But here is the great news, customers that already have the free version installed (up to 7/13/10) won't have to pay for the upgraded version and will be able to take advantage of the new features for free. Android users opting to download the Shazam free version will receive a seven day premium trial, followed by the option to upgrade to Shazam Encore or have five tags a month thereafter.
The free version will be accompanied by ads and includes the following features: 5 taggs limitation; tag charts; tour info; videos; multiple sharing options; biography and discography; track reviews; ringtones.
The premium version of Shazam features: unlimited tagging; recommendations, further enhancing a user’s music collection by introducing them to other music similar to the track that’s been tagged; Shazam users in the U.S. can also directly access Pandora through Shazam Encore to listen to a station from their Tags.
Shazam Encore can be downloaded from the Android Market store, as well as the free version of Shazam for Android.
