Mobile phone users who own devices running under Google's Android operating system have now a new feature to enjoy from the Shazam application on their devices. Starting with today, they would enjoy free tagging of music at all times, until January 1, 2012.

The offering is available through a partnership with eBay, who sponsored the free application, Shazam unveiled.

“As of today there’s no need to miss a music moment – Shazam a track wherever you are – as our friends at eBay are sponsoring our Free App. This update means all new and existing Shazamers get free unlimited tagging until January 1, 2012,” the company announced.

At the same time, they unveiled the fact that the “Shazam Friends” option is now available on Android too, enabling users to easily stay in touch with their contacts.

Through “Shazam Friends,” users would be able to easily discover and share new music with their friends on Facebook.

It would provide them with a real-time view of their friends' tags, so that they would make an idea of what music they can check for.

Some of the options available for Shazam Android users would be:

- Browse all your friends’ tags – buy the track, watch music videos, read reviews, access biographies and get artist tour info - See all recent tags from a particular friend in one place - Add friends tags to your Shazam history and playlist - Post tags to Facebook and Twitter – you and your friends can listen and comment - Invite friends to use Shazam Friends

For those out of the loop, we should note that Shazam has two application versions available for download via the Android Market, namely Shazam Free, and the paid version, Shazam Encore. They can be seen here and here, respectively.
