The BX Series

As the summer has already made us dream about the perfect moment in which we will lay down on the golden sands of some Caribbean beach, surfing our way out of the waves and drinking colorful cocktails, the technology companies thought that if we will not get a blessed holiday, they should bring us a surrogate - the images displayed on the latest LCD monitors that come bundled with a bunch of next generation technology which are said to be able to transform a screen into some kind of 'displayed reality'.

You already know that this is the season in which most of the launches are dedicated to the summer holiday - meaning that you'll see MP 3 Players, home entertainment systems, many displays (either LCDs or Plasma) and some more gaming mobile or desktop systems.

Therefore, Sharp just unveiled its latest AQUOS BX Series additions, four new models to be precise, which come in different sizes and sport a WXGA panel with a decent 1366 x 768 pixels high-definition resolution. But the most important feature is the Four-Wavelength Backlight, which delivers an enhanced skin tone reproduction.

"With an expanded lineup bringing together Sharp's LCD panel and imaging technologies and offering the vastly improved contrast, wide viewing angle, fast image response, faithful color reproduction, and superior environmental performance you want in a large-screen TV, the BX Series keeps Sharp at the forefront of the digital high-definition revolution," said the company.

The displays also come with a rather good 1200:1 contrast ratio, but if we are to remember that LG has previously launched a 2000:1 contrast ratio monitor, than it is not such a big fuss.

The 176? wide viewing angle, every little new LCD has one, is somehow better than Sharp's previous models that came with a mere 170?. And again if we keep in mind that another manufacturer recently launched a display with a full viewing angle, then the 170? angle is just a piece of cake.

The BX Series sport several input/output jacks, including the 2 next-generation HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) input, a VGA (15 pin Din) input for PCs and other equipment, and component input for connecting to high-definition equipment.

The BX Series will come rather pricy in August. The LC-37BX6M will be available for $3799, LC-32BX6M at $2599, LC-37BX5M - $3799 and the LC-32BX5M for $2599.
