Sharp is one of the mobile phone makers in the world to have already announced a smartphone that can support 3D content, and their device, the recently spotted Aquos SH8298U, is now official at SoftBank in Japan.

The new Aquos SH8298U mobile phone was spotted into the wild a few months ago, with the ability to deliver 3D content without the need of special glasses, and with appealing looks.

However, this is not the first smartphone in the world to arrive on shelves with these features, as HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D that landed on shelves earlier this year packed the capabilities as well.

The new handset was unveiled to the world with a large 4.2-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a qHD resolution, a glasses-free 3D display, as well as with the ability to record 3D content courtesy of its dual-cameras on the back.

These are 8-megapixel sensors, and can record both 3D content in HD, as well as 2D content, so that users can enjoy a benefit from a great experience while on the go.

The new mobile phone is powered by a 1.4GHz application processor, complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU, and 512MB of RAM for enhancing the performance capabilities the device can offer.

Moreover, there are 2GB of internal memory to enjoy, along with a microSD memory card slot that can accommodate memory cards of up to 32GB. The handset also comes with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as with the possibility to view content from the phone straight to a TV at home.

Sharp's Aquos SH8298U 3D smartphone is powered by a 1240mAh battery and runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Sharp announced the phone's availability at Japan's SoftBank in two color flavors, namely red and white, both of which seem very appealing. For the time being, no specific info on the availability of this device outside Asia emerged. (via)
