One of the devices that KDDI announced today for its upcoming lineup was the AQUOS Pad SHT21 7-inch tablet PC from Sharp, the second Android-based product from the company to arrive on shelves with the new IGZO LCD technology packed inside.

The first of them was the AQUOS Phone Zeta SH-02E smartphone that was made official last week for NTT DOCOMO’s winter lineup, promising great visuals while on the go, the same as the tablet PC does.

The AQUOS Pad SHT21 was announced with an expected release date of mid-December at Japanese wireless carrier KDDI, yet no info on its possible arrival in other countries around the world has been provided as of yet.

As mentioned above, the slate comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, and packed with pen input capabilities (Pen Flow).

The specifications list of the new device also shows a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor that has been paired with 1GB of RAM, which should result in pretty decent performance levels for users.

Moreover, the tablet PC comes with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSDXC memory card slot to enable users to expand it.

On the back, the slate comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper with full HD video recording capabilities. A front camera to enable video calling has been included as well.

Other specs of this device include Wi-Fi IEEE802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz 5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, 4G LTE, MHL, NFC, and a 3,460mAh battery.

The slate measures 106 × 190 × 8.9mm and weighs only 280g. According to the wireless carrier, it has also been designed to be waterproof and dustproof.

The AQUOS Pad SHT21 tablet PC runs under Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at the moment. It also comes with various software enhancements from Sharp, including the aforementioned pen input capabilities.
