A Korean IT news source seems to confirm that Sharp is no longer an iPad 3 supplier for Apple, at least not a display supplier anyway.

“It has been confirmed”, reports Etnews.com, that only Samsung and LG Display are now racing to complete orders for Apple, as Sharp has reportedly failed in the trial runs for mass production of LCD panels.

The Korean IT news site quotes an industry source who said on January 9, “LCD manufacturers started mass production and supply of LCD panels for the iPad3 late last year. Samsung Electronics’ LCD business unit was the first to start mass production, and LG Display has participated in mass production with full capacity, beginning this year.”

NOPE! Apple just could not afford to pay SHARP for its "sharp" industry standard to put on Apple low class low quality overpriced products so that it opted to buy from samsung and LG surplus parts used about a decade ago.
