Sharp has just announced its rumored Galapagos 7-inch tablet, in Japan. There are no details about the slate's price or if it will reach other markets in the futures.

However, it's certain that Galapagos EB-A71GJ-B is a pretty interesting device due to its hardware and software configuration.

It looks like the 7-inch tablet will be delivered with Android 3.2 Honeycomb on board and WiMax support.

In addition, the device is equipped with a 1 GHz dual core Tegra 2 processor manufactured by NVIDIA. It packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

There's also a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video calls, along with an HDMI port, Bluetooth and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.
