With all the news regarding the tablet market that has been sprouting recently, it is not so surprising to hear of more such tidings, with Sharp being, this once, the one behind the existence of one Galapagos A01SH.

Truly the tablet market is on a roll, causing such things as reduced netbook orders on the part of their makers, even though some models still have issues that they are sorting out.

All in all, slates really have performed, and are performing, much better than they were expected to back when the iPad had not yet been launched.

Once that happened and notebook makers, as well as smartphone suppliers, followed suite with their own plans, the river just followed its own course, so to speak.

It is now found that Sharp is just about ready to send out another one of these things, though with a screen size smaller than that of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9, to give just one example.

The product in question bears the name of Galapagos A01SH and features a screen diagonal length of 7 inches, adding to the 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch models that should also show up sooner or later, though still before the ongoing year (2011) is past.

Japan should have it on sale by the end of the ongoing month (August), though just when before 2012 the US will get it is unclear.

Based on the Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip), the Galapagos features 1 GB of RAM (random access memory) and 8 GB of internal storage.

So far, it is fairly similar to all others of its kind out there selling, though the 7.5-hour battery life is a tad above what others can manage.

Sharp also put in a microSD card reader and two webcams, on the front and back, of 2 megapixels and 5 megapixels, respectively. Finally, the display features a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.
