Sharp, one of Japan's main manufacturers of handsets (among lots of other electronic products) has launched a new mobile TV phone on the Japanese market: Sharp Aquos 923SH. First unveiled back in June, the 923SH will be available under the name of SoftBank 923SH, starting July 5, only for the subscribers of SoftBank, the third largest Japanese mobile operator.

In the well-established tradition of Sharp, the 923SH is a clamshell that looks simple when closed but unveils an array of quite complicated keys when flipped.

In terms of features, the new Sharp is what we can call a "monster phone". First of all, being a handset made to provide the best possible mobile TV experience, the 923SH packs a 1Seg receiver and a 3.3 inch LCD swiveling display, built with the same technology embedded in Sharp's Aquos line of LCD TVs. This display supports 16.7 million colors and a 480 x 845 pixel resolution.

Moving on, the new clamshell has a 5.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, flash, face detection, wide-angle capabilities and video recording - quite enough for any user's "mobile photography wishes."

The rest of the features the 923SH comes with are normal (for a Japanese phone): built-in GPS with pre-loaded maps, HSDPA connectivity, advanced Internet capabilities, Bluetooth, Music and Video players, 100MB of expandable memory and many more that the Japanese - English translation provided by Google doesn't allow us to discover.

The handset weighs 135 grams and, when closed, it measures 113 x 50 x 18.6 millimeters. Its battery should provide up to about 4 hours of talk-time or up to 350 hours of stand-by time.

Sharp Aquos 923SH comes in black, white, blue, wine red and pink, hence there are colors for about every user and every taste. Its price is not known for the moment, but it's surely a hefty one.
