Despite her successful movie career and vast involvement in multiple high-profile charity initiatives, Sharon Stone has not been enjoying a very good reputation lately, mainly because of her uncanny ability to make inappropriate comments at the worst possible time. Due to such a comment (in which she implied that the recent devastating earthquake in China was "bad karma" brought about by the country's politics in Tibet) the actress was recently dropped from Dior China's beauty ads for fear of causing a marketing catastrophe. However, Stone's fans can rest peaceful now - the actress hasn't lost her brand appeal and was just revealed as the new face of Italian jewelry company Damiani.

The reputed company - founded in the early 1920s and famous for its strict quality standards (it was the first jewelry manufacturer to introduce Certificates of Authenticity, for example) - is known for collaborating with other stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Sofia Loren and helped Brad Pitt design the wedding rings for his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Sharon's connection with Damiani had become increasingly evident in recent months, with the actress flaunting quite a lot of Damiani diamonds lately, particularly at the Cannes Film Festival.

The official announcement was made on Saturday, at the opening of Damiani's new Rodeo Drive store. The jewelry company's latest campaign - which Sharon will be fronting - is inspired by various iconic female personalities in history (like American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart and Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel). In some of the ads, Stone is featured wearing goggles on top of her head, a swim cap or a medal. Sharon looks fabulous in the ads and her partnership with Damiani looks like a successful endeavor - provided of course that she stops herself from making any more inappropriate comments. We'll just have to wait and see - so stay tuned for more news.
