Whenever a celebrity gets into some sort of trouble on a plane, news of it is bound to transpire in the media. Just think the Ralph Fiennes scandal of a couple of years back or the most recent incident involving Joel Madden, who was reportedly asked to cover up his many tattoos before embarking. Now, it’s Sharon Stone’s turn to make the headlines for picking a fight with a flight attendant and causing quite a scene, as The Style List can confirm.

According to the publication, citing several other reports now circulating in the media, the actress threw a massive fit on a plane after being asked to check one of the two bags she was carrying. Stone boarded a flight from Kalispell, MT to Salt Lake City, UT the other day and was none too pleased when a flight attendant asked her to get rid of one of the bags that she planned on taking with her.

Eyewitnesses say that Stone went crazy mad at the stewardess and then she and her assistant started to insult her – which they continued to do for the entire duration of the flight. “The flight attendant in Kalispell asked her to gate check her bag and Sharon refused and got into a huge fight with her. They eventually took the bag from her and she screamed at her assistant with her and made a scene during the entire flight. When the plane got to Salt Lake City it was met by armed Salt Lake City police officers. She was detained. It’s not clear if she was arrested.” one such eyewitness says for the aforementioned e-zine.

However, Stone’s publicist is telling the media that the entire “scene” was nothing but a major misunderstanding. The actress was not detained and police were not involved at all. Moreover, the rep claims, it was the flight attendant who screamed and acted inappropriately towards Stone, and not the other way around, says a statement recently released following the above-mentioned report.

Spokesperson Paul Bloch states the people who met Sharon Stone at the airport were “private security hired by Sharon. She was not detained by police.” Furthermore, Stone was traveling alone. “Sharon had been visiting her father in Montana, and was approved to take both bags on the plane. When she got to the plane, she told me the stewardess screamed at her that she couldn’t take both bags on board.” the rep reveals. According to the official version, the actress did not respond in any way to the flight attendant and eventually gave up one of the two bags.
