Sharon Osbourne has never been one to mince her words and she’s not about to start now with X Factor reject and aspiring pop star Cher Lloyd. In a recent interview cited by DigitalSpy, Osbourne puts Cher on blast for her diva behavior.
Fans of the popular UK show must already know that, throughout her stint on the current season, Cher has often been accused of acting like
a spoilt brat and a diva making impossible demands.
Her attitude in front of the cameras was also harshly criticized, with many believing she was only kept on the show by the judges (Simon Cowell in particular) because they believed she would sell.
Sharon too thinks that Cher was a bit over the top – in a way that not even her young age (she’s 17) justifies it. Mrs. Osbourne also believes Cher should take a chill pill, to put it simply.
“I knew it was going to be a great final. The talent was incredible and Simon Cowell definitely made the show more edgy, younger and phenomenal this year,” Sharon says, sweetening what she has to say a bit.
Then, when Cher’s name pops up, she’s suddenly calling spade a spade. “I thought it was a [expletive]-ing act. I like her and I think she’s a sassy little thing,” Sharon says.
While Cher may have the right attitude onstage, she has no right to act like a diva because she’s still miles to go to get there, she’s barely starting in the industry, Mrs. Osbourne goes on to say.
“But Cher knew what she was doing and she’s as fragile as I am. But she’s too young to be a diva – she hasn’t earned that right,” she explains.
Cher should also look to express herself creatively as her own person and not as a copy of her mentor Cheryl Cole, Sharon says.
“Cher wants to be a mini Cheryl Cole. We’ve already got Cheryl – we don’t need Cher. And I wouldn’t put her in Amy Winehouse’s league. She hasn’t got the talent and individuality that Amy has,” she shares.
