Sharon Osbourne Doesn't Cry for Her Daughter - Her Dog Is Much More Important

Lucky for Kelly the pooch was still alive when she performed

Welcome to the crazy, crazy world of the rich and famous who pamper their pooches, leave them millions of dollars in their wills and would go to any lengths to display their undying love for their four-legged companions. Enter British X factor judge and wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon, who was in Chicago two nights ago to support her daughter Kelly at her West End debut in Chicago. And like any mother who takes true pride in her (very talented actually) daughter, Sharon could be seen crying her eyes out in the front row - something everyone present took for a display of motherly concern and pride. Well, think again.

The real reason for Sharon's tears, it has been revealed, was that her favorite pooch is apparently sick with pneumonia. Minnie (yeah, I know, very original, isn't it?) is a blonde Pomeranian in case you had an existential dilemma as to what kind of dog we are dealing with. But no, you can rest assured, it's not one of those mini-pooches that we usually see hanging on Paris' arm. And it is apparently quite the star after featuring on the MTV reality show The Osbournes - so much in fact that it has its own psychologist and dietician.

OK, that's weird - I mean, I can (almost) understand about the diet part, but I had no idea there was such a thing as a dog psychologist - and even if that makes me the shallowest, most superficial person in the world, I'm still not ashamed of it. It does make for a funny visual, though - and I do wonder if such a profession involves knowing how to bark and wag an (imaginary) tail and all that other gross stuff that dogs sometimes do.

The problem is, this time, the dog is seriously ill, so much so in fact that Sharon's reportedly even considered not coming to see her daughter's stage performance on account of staying by the dog's deathbed. "But of course she couldn't miss Kelly's stage debut and in the end, torn though she was, Sharon soldiered on and went to the theatre", a friend said. Yes, poor thing, I'm sure it comes as a great existential dilemma. But in the end, her great effort took the better of her and she burst into tears right before the play started.

And even though the whole world thought it was due to being nervous on behalf of her daughter, it was actually all down to the pooch. I don't want to be mean, but this means Mrs. Osbourne's priorities are rather weird at the moment - but that's me being all cold and materialistic. Lucky for her, Kelly did really well and got a standing ovation - which hopefully made her mother feel just a tiny bit better. Lucky for Kelly, I say - I don't even want to imagine what it felt like to grow up sharing space with that dog.
