Sharkoon has already revealed a number of HDD docking stations as part of its QuickPort series, but it has just done something quite unusual and, instead of offering such a PC accessory, built it directly into its latest PC ATX chassis, the Bandit.
HDD docking stations are meant to allow end-users to use their spare 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch storage units externally.
Such devices usually need USB or eSATA connectivity, but Sharkoon went one step further and integrated such a dock into its newest computer case.
The chassis goes by the name of Bandit and is constructed out of SECC-steel with black finish on the inside as well as the outside.
The faceplates are made of plastic and use a mesh design, for good air intake, while a front 120mm LED fan is situated in a removable HDD cage and is meant to cool the hard drives.
In addition to three HDD bays, the enclosure boasts space for five optical drives, which can be installed without the need for tools.
In addition to the pre-installed front and top fans, end-users can choose to add a pair of 140mm or 120mm spinners on the side, plus an 80mm or 120mm model on the back.
Nevertheless, the most unique feature is the integrated QuickPort docking station, placed on the top side of the case for easy access.
Other I/O options include Power and Reset switches, audio jacks, an eSATA and two USB ports, a power and HDD LED and a card reader with support for SD, SDHC, MS, as well as CF I formats.
All in all, the creature measures 200mm x 485mm x 485mm (W x H x L), weighs about 6.6 kg and is bundled with 3 mounting frames for 3.5-inch hard disk drives.
“The ATX Case Sharkoon Bandit brings together comfortable installation options, an elaborate airflow concept, integrated card reader and as a special feature, a practical docking station for 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA hard drives,” states the
press release.
Retailers authorized by Sharkoon are already shipping this casing for 69.90 Euro.
