Sharkoon has been in the business of making and selling new external storage solutions for a while now, and It appears that its two latest additions to its line of docking stations have now become official.

HDD docks are a sort of product that started to gain traction when the HDD industry itself accelerated in development.

Since newer and better hard drives began to come out at shorter and shorter intervals, users' older HDDs often ended up sitting unused in some drawer.

There was also demand for a means by which any 3.5-inch and/or 2.5-inch drive would be made to interface with a PC immediately.

Thus it was that HDD docks came to be, and Sharkoon has been making such products as part of the QuickPort series for quite some time now.

Now, the same company has delivered its two latest additions to said collection, the SATA QuickPort XT and the SATA QuickPort XT USB3.0.

For the most part, they can be seen as identical, except for the obvious fact that the second one supports the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard.

Those that need a reminder will be eager to know that USB 3.0 can be ten times faster, theoretically, than USB 2.0.

Regardless, both QuickPorts can handle 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard disk drives, so long as they are designed with a SATA interface.

A final asset is their support for a so-called one-touch backup function, which makes it quite easy to preserve any data that one may wish to secure from their host PCs.

All in all, they measure 130 x 100 x 63 mm and weigh 313 grams while selling for 20 Euro (SATA QuickPort XT) and 35 Euro (SATA QuickPort XT USB3).

One can, of course, find all the information they need on the newcomer on Sharkoon's website, located here.
