Movie about tornado that makes it rain sharks on LA is hailed as SyFy hit

Just yesterday I was telling you that I was hyped about a new SyFy original movie called “Sharknado,” about how a tornado made it rain sharks on Los Angeles, killing many innocents until Ian Ziering (hello, Steve Sanders!) came to the rescue.

As it turns out, I was not alone.

The official ratings for the film, which aired last night, aren’t in yet, but hype online is so great that the only logical conclusion would be that many tuned in just to see this ridiculous movie.

And ridiculous it was, the same hype shows us.

ET Online some of the finest reactions from celebrities watching the film, with The Hollywood Reporter offering a body count for those who would have wanted to keep track but didn’t (16 dead humans, lost count of sharks).

Meanwhile, EW has a hilarious review of why (and how) a movie so bad was actually good.

“It’s an hour-and-a-half of ridiculous, slapstick, theatrical, scientifically-impossible fun. With few tricks up its sleeve, Sharknado only adds to the list of hysterical Syfy monster-dramas that make for a shamelessly brainless 90 minutes well-spent. And as the movie tagline affirms, ‘Enough said’,” the publication writes.

Did you catch “Sharknado” on TV last night? If not, do you plan on watching it some other time or have you heard enough about it to convince you it’s not your cup of tea?
