A little girl survived a shark attack on Daytona Beach in Florida this weekend, and she was even left with something to remember the shark by.

11-year-old Riley Breihan had a shark tooth embedded in her body after the horrific incident. She has decided to keep it as a souvenir.

She is now recovering from the attack and she is stable. According to WTVR, the incident took place on Sunday while the girl was boogy-boarding in shallow water at WinterHaven Park in Ponce Inlet.

She was in knee-deep water when a baby shark approached her, Christian Post adds. She was attacked multiple times and a tooth got stuck in her leg.

"It bit me with its mouth here at the same time, and sliced me again and then came at me again," describes Breihan, who is in the sixth grade.

She was helped by two swimmers who jumped in to take her to shore. They then transported her to a hospital.

"They wrapped me up in their towel, they carried me and put me in the back of their jeep," she describes.

Doctors discovered two bite marks on her lower leg and heel. The injuries were not life threatening, but she had to be anesthetized in order for the tooth to be pulled out.

"They had to numb me and they had to prick it out," Breihan recalls.

"At first I wasn't thinking about pain, I was thinking I got bit by a shark and I have to go to the emergency room. Then I felt the sting and it hurt real bad," she says.

She has decided to keep the tooth as a memento, but she is wary about getting in the water anytime soon.

"I don't think I would go back in the water. [...] I'm going to wait," Breihan notes.
