Microsoft is offering IT professionals a comprehensive collection of resources designed to make the best out of SharePoint Server 2010 deployments.

In this regard, IT pros can head over to TechNet and get insight into the Redmond company’s recommendations on the performance and capacity of SharePoint Server 2010.

The software giant also offers a set of documents providing guidance on the latest iteration of SharePoint free of charge via the Microsoft Download Center.

The Performance and capacity test results and recommendations (SharePoint Server 2010) section of TechNet “contains a series of white papers and articles that describe the performance and capacity impact of specific feature sets included in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010,” the company stated.

“These white papers and articles include information about the performance and capacity characteristics of the feature and how it was tested by Microsoft, including: test farm characteristics; test results; recommendations and troubleshooting performance and scalability.”

IT pros will be able to access information on: Access Services, Business Connectivity Services, Caches, Excel Services in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, InfoPath Forms Services, Large lists, Large-scale document repositories, Managed metadata, My Sites and social computing, Office Web Apps, PerformancePoint Services, Search, Visio Services, Web Analytics, Web Content Management, Word Automation Services and Workflow.

Documentation for the topics enumerated above has already been published on TechNet. A subset of these resources can be downloaded from the software giant for offline viewing.

Customers should make sure and leverage all the documentation made available to them under the Performance and capacity management (SharePoint Server 2010) section on TechNet.

“Performance and capacity planning is the process of mapping your solution design for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 to a farm size and set of hardware that will support your business goals,” the company stated.
