Microsoft has introduced a video contest designed to allow customers to share their SharePoint experiences with the world and win prizes from the company.

SharePoint Journeys went live in mid-December 2010, but participants can take their time to submit an entry, as videos can be uploaded up until February 16, 2011.

The software giant is looking for customers to describe the way in which SharePoint is being leveraged within their organizations.

Videos must be in English, not exceed 2 and a half minutes, be smaller than 25MB and either .WMV or .MP4.

There are no less than three categories for which they can be produced, including Ramping Up, Building Momentum and Driving Business Value.

“Through these videos, we want SharePoint professionals to share and review their work, inspire each other to think about SharePoint in new ways, and take the next step on their journey.

“Right now the site only allows for submissions, but as videos come in we will turn on the interactive pieces of the site that will allow for social media sharing, commenting on videos, and the ability to embed videos into personal blogs,” revealed a member of the SharePoint team.

Microsoft will offer a grand prize for each of the contest’s categories, each containing a pass to SharePoint Conference 2011 October 3-6, 2011 in Anaheim, California.

Participants need to be aware that the Redmond company will only pay for their conference pass, and not for any additional expenses.

“When it’s all said and done, we’ll announce three winners, one for each category, during the week of February 21, on the SharePoint journeys website and SharePoint social media channels.

“Each winner receives a pass to SharePoint Conference 2011 in Anaheim and a chance to speak to their video,” the company said.
