A new version of the software development kit for SharePoint 2010 is now available through the Microsoft Download Center. Gurmeet Singh, SharePoint Technology Specialist, Microsoft India, reveals that the SharePoint 2010 SDK was updated earlier this week, and as such developers will get a refreshed version of the resource.

Via the SharePoint 2010 SDK, Microsoft is offering devs building on top of the platform the necessary code samples to streamline their work, as well as guidance to build new solutions leveraging SharePoint 2010 products and technologies.

The software giant confirmed officially that it updated the software development kit for SharePoint 2010 on September 8th.

Singh explained that the “free update replaces previous 2010 versions of the SDK and includes the following:

•New code samples: Silverlight List Viewer, plus new samples in Business Connectivity Services (BCS), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), and User Profiles and Social Data;

•Updated documentation, including: new and updated How To, reference, and conceptual content;

•Updated IntelliSense XML files for tooltips and auto-complete in Visual Studio.”

Microsoft release SharePoint Server 2010 to manufacturing simultaneously with the rest of the Office 2010 productivity suite, and made sure that the general availability deadlines also coincided.

The SharePoint 2010 SDK offers resources from documentation to code samples that devs can be take advantage to build solution on top of both SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010.

The promise from the Redmond company is that developers will keep seeing new content being added to the SKD.

“We continually expand and update the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Software Development Kit (SDK), adding documentation for new and improved features of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 / Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and responding to feedback from our customers."
