It seems that even the audio/visual industry is getting infiltrated

One thing to note about 3D printing is that it is expanding at a very rapid pace, infiltrating every little corner of the world's technology. Case in point, Shapeways has released a bunch of camera accessories made through this means.

Well, that's not perfectly true. Shapeways hasn't released anything of the sort yet. Instead, a designer working for it, Eric Ho, has posted a gallery of 3D printed camera lenses and accessories.

He says that many accessories you might need do not exist, so he made them. For example, he made a 3D printed hood for the Zeiss ZM 50mm f2 Planar lens.

There's also the Nifty Fifty (Canon 50mm F1) Follow Focus Adapter, a lens cap holder, scottkrebs’s Fuji X mount double lens cap.

“It didn’t exist so this Shapie created it,” Eric Ho said.
