How is it possible for a company official not to know that RE5 for 360 had been announced two years ago?

In what is probably the most embarrassing interview with a Microsoft official ever, Shane Kim the company's Corporate Vice President of Game Studios got confused, forgot or simply didn't know that what he was telling to GameIndustry.biz had actually been told two years ago. Kim admits it was supposed to be a big announcement... It's hilarious!

"GI: You're obviously doing OK in the States, you're doing great in Europe. Japan, you went in hard with it, you want to show them, "Hey, we've got you covered." You made a splash with Blue Dragon, for sure.

Kim: We'll do it again with Lost Odyssey.

GI: But those are two from one developer.

Kim: Yeah, but here's the thing: I think one of the most important, subtle announcements at the Xbox 360 briefing is that Resident Evil is coming to Xbox 360. Yes, it's from Capcom, who's been a great supporter of us.

GI: But we knew that two years ago.

Kim: What?

GI: Resident Evil. It was shown at TGS two years ago.

Kim: No, but coming to Xbox 360.

GI: Yeah. It was at the press event.

Kim: I don't think so.

GI: I'm positive. I was there.

Kim: Really?

GI: It was shown at both press conferences.

Kim: That RE5 was coming to??

GI: Yep.

Kim: I'm going to have to confirm that. That was supposed to be the big announcement."

So, how exactly is it possible for a Microsoft official to not know that Resident Evil 5 had been confirmed for the company's machine, not two days ago, not two weeks ago, not two months ago, but two frikkin' years ago? It's not like we're talking about some casual game or an XBLA downloadable classic, but about Resident Evil 5, one of the most popular if not the most popular horror/survival title. This one's way over my power of understanding, so by all means, write an opinion or two and enlighten me.
