Remember Sony's rumored Rolly? Starting with the company's teaser campaign in Japan, it all became a reality. In fact, the representatives have even announced a "Rolly Special Party" somewhere around 10th September.

I am sorry to admit we had serious doubts about the announced player, especially after seeing a lot of items of its kind kicking off the market, like mushrooms after a spring rain. Still, it seems Sony is preparing a new smashing player that won't resemble anything.

Recently, Sony officially confirmed that Rolly is a cute digital audio player without any display. Not to mention it will feature only one button to control the "play" and "stop" options. And the innovation comes from the integrated speaker and a 'choreography' system which most probably involves changing lights or music in tandem with movement.

Judging by the video that has been posted on the Internet, the player sports the already mentioned egg-shaped design and remarkable flexible features. The company's decision of using a single button to control everything shouldn't surprise anyone, because, as you know, it offered the same solution when creating the Walkman W910 mobile communication device.

To be more specific, the manufacturers are going to use an accelerometer coupled with Sony's new implemented Shake control software. This would definitely allow you to flick your Rolly right or left to advance or jump-back tracks or to shake it to shuffle-up the music. This technology would be great to use in Japan, where Rolly is already being heavily marketed.

Just as the fellows from Engadget said, the Rolly player is more than an ordinary DAP. And the video says a lot about the potential customers, also. But I believe most people prefer their electronics not to cause a too obvious bulge in their pants pocket. No offense!

Oh, I almost forgot! Here is the video:
