14 DAY TRIAL // Some female celebrities wait for a fancy-pantsy public event to unveil a new hairdo, but Shakira was too eager to show off her new cut – so she took to her Twitter page instead to boast about it.
Known for her long, often times curly hair, Shakira cuts a much sleeker and classier appearance with her brand new bob.
It's asymmetric, which makes her look funkier, but it's also long enough to emphasize her facial features and make her appear years younger (not that she's old or anything, of course).
“Hace 4 horas estoy estrenando corte de pelo!!” the singer wrote on her page, adding, in the same tweet, the English translation for her amazing piece of news: “4 hours ago I got my hair cut!”
People magazine did some digging around to see what could have prompted Shakira to chop off her trademark long locks but came up empty-handed.
It did learn, though, that it took a stylist many hours to get the perfect cut for the gorgeous star.
“The Colombian singer, on holiday in Barcelona, popped into a salon and chopped several inches off of her hair,” says the celebrity publication.
“According to photographers on the scene, the singer spent more than six hours inside the Jordi Ripoll salon, which opened just for her. After getting her cut – and posting a cute pic to Twitter – Shakira reportedly went straight for boyfriend Gerard Pique's apartment,” People further reports.
While speculating on what could possibly take a stylist 6 hours to do on a head of hair, especially where there's cutting involved, there's one thing no one can deny: Shakira looks good, so it was probably well worth it in the end.
“Since Shakira has had pretty long locks for quite some time, the new style is definitely a change, but the sharp bob and fringe-y bangs – similar to Katy Perry’s new cut – are very flattering,” People underlines.
