Shakira insists she is in no rush to marry. The beautiful Colombian singer has been engaged to Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rua (the son of then president of Argentina Fernando de la Rua) and their romance made headline news throughout Latin America for around six years. Despite being madly in love and happy with her relationship, Shakira likes things just the way they are and is in no rush to get married.

"We'll get married eventually, or we won't, but we're together and that's what matters. We love each other and we want to stay like that. Why fix something that's not broken?" she recently stated. Her statements come after the singer's future mother-in-law Ins Pertin has claimed Shakira's wedding would take place in September this year - something that obviously never happened. There were several other (contradictory) rumors connected to the couple, including one that said they had split up - something that was vehemently and promptly denied both by the singer and by her partner and future husband.

The 30-year-old Columbian star says her fianc is her first priority and she will always put love before her career. Shakira performed at the premiere of new film "Love in the Time of Cholera" in Las Vegas this Tuesday night and in a statement to People magazine she added that "Love is my primary nourishment. I think that nothing else in life, not even your career or music - well, what I'm saying is a bold statement - I think that nothing can substitute love as the propelling force of everyone's lives. It's number one on my list of priorities, of course".

Shakira wrote three songs for "Love in the Time of Cholera". The movie tells the story of a 50-year love triangle during the late 19th century and is based on the novel by Columbian writer Gabriel Garca Mrquez. And since Shakira is not only a talented singer but also a well-known philantropist, her performance on Tuesday raised money for her Fundacin Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet Foundation), which promotes educational development in Colombia. Way to go, girl - and keep up the good work!
