Many have said that Shakira's Swarovski guitar was something awesome. Now, c'mon, adding some crystals on a pink Fender Jaguar ain't art at all, but rather a proof of small
thinking, especially as Shakira is technically inexistent in the guitar-world since she can barely play some weak notes now and then.

I will tell you about what art really means in the guitar world, regardless of who's trying to play on such instruments. And when I say art I really mean it: "art" like in "creativity, imagination and talent", not like in "rich lady has guitar and diamonds". Now, there are lots of craftsmen delivering astonishing pieces of work but here I will tell you about two of those which seemed the most intriguing yet delightful.

Both Canadian Peter McGilton and American Las Americas have managed to draw attention upon them with the mind-boggling or eye candy instruments they produce. From the weirdest guitars up to the real pieces of true art, both producers can be sure that some of their guitars will end up in the collectors' homes maybe never to be played again and rather displayed as wealth-assets.

The most interesting fact about these guitars is the way functionality blends with style and art; many of them are really playable and would make a huge impression on any stage. Whether electric guitars, basses or acoustical guitars, they all have some element which makes them stand in the crowd, so to say.
Made from the very finest materials and embedding a whole lot more than technology - and I mean Passion - these instruments are sworn to defy the rest of the industry. Either with high-tech resources or delicate sculpting skills, guitars from Las Americas and Exotic Guitars (Peter McGilton) will catch your eyes for sure.

Using state of the art pickups (EMG for Las Americas) and amazing hi-quality hardware and metals (Exotic Guitars), these guitars are likely to have no proper match when it comes to both looks and sound. They might as well be the guitars of the future as their creators say... even though for now they are quite unconventional and still make all heads turn.

The price is for both an excellent guitar and a piece of art together: starting around $3500-$4500, it's clear that these instruments are not for the everyday gear-shopping habits... As well as the price, extended care must be taken of these artifacts as their shapes are far less resistant to contacts against cabinet stacks or doors than the usual-shape guitars. Perfect for a smashing, killer appearance on any stage, as well as for display in an art gallery, these guitars are definitely worth checking out. And their creators hailed in joy!
