Newcomer will vie for Peter Parker’s affections, rivaling Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley, who got her big break in George Clooney’s critically acclaimed “The Descendants,” has been attached to “The Amazing Spider-Man” sequel, which Marc Webb will direct. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Woodley will play Mary Jane Watson, a role that was previously played by Kirsten Dunst in the Sam Raimi trilogy.
Fans will know that, besides Andrew Garfield, who reprises his role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Emma Stone is also signed to return as Gwen Stacy.
In other words, ladies and gentlemen, expect a love triangle of the finest quality, or so we hope.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” came out earlier this year and, though not registering phenomenal success at the box office (it still made a profit, though), earned pretty solid reviews with the critics and fans, thus paving the way for a sequel.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” will actually be a trilogy.
