Looking for Love SMS, Jokes, SMS Senders, Video Convertors, Antiviruses or Send Free SMS applications on Google Play? Then beware, because there’s a shady developer which has published more than 15 apps that maliciously redirect users to a suspicious-looking website.

AegisLab experts reveal that a developer named thasnimola infested Google Play with a number of programs that hide a malicious purpose.

The masterminds of this scheme use the Appsgeyser webkit to automatically generate fake apps which they can serve to unsuspecting Android owners.

The fake SMS senders and the fake antiviruses are designed to redirect users to a website owned by the developer.

It’s uncertain at this point if the cybercrooks plan on serving pieces of malware on the site, or they simply want to boost their traffic.

In any case, make sure to install a reliable security application on your Android device before testing out pieces of software that come from untrusted sources or developers.
