The development team at Harebrained Schemes announces that it has managed to negotiate a new deal with Microsoft, which allows it to eliminate all Digital Right Management solutions on both the core game and future launches, like the Berlin DLC.

In an update on its Kickstarter page, the company says, “The DRM-free versions of SRR and Berlin will continue to be fully supported. You'll be able to download all game patches, use the Shadowrun Returns editor and experience user-generated content downloaded from third-party sites such as Nexus.”

The team does not yet know exactly when the DRM free version of Shadowrun Returns will be available.

Berlin is an upcoming campaign created by Harebrained Schemes that will use a number of new gameplay mechanics and will challenge all fans of the universe and its unique characters.

At the moment, it is expected to arrive in January 2014.
