Video game developer Harebrained Schemes announces that the official name of the upcoming Shadowrun Returns campaign set in the city of Berlin is Dragonfall, while also offering some details about the experience.

The team says that Berlin is an interesting location to explore, described as “A place where almost anything goes and the right connections can be the difference between success and starvation. Dangerous jobs abound and there’s no better place to earn a quick payday - provided you live long enough to spend it.”

Gamers will be able to recruit a new team of shadowrunner in order to deal with rumors about the Dragonfall, one of the events that dominated the Awakened world but has been since forgotten by most inhabitants.

The player only has rumors at first, but as the Shadowrun Return campaign progresses, they will have to deal with powerful enemies and discover a strange set of machinations.

The basic structure of the game will remain unchanged but Berlin, as a city, offers an entirely new cast of supporting characters, more gorgeous high-resolution artwork and a soundtrack created by Sam Powell, who also worked on the SEGA genesis version of the game.

There are also extra weapons for the team to use and new enemies to face, including “new magical creatures like gargoyles and fire drakes. Dragonfall brings a host of new items, characters, portraits, and improvements to the Shadowrun Returns experience.“

The team at Harebrained Schemes is also adding a new save anywhere feature to the game, which will also be available retroactively in the Dead Man’s Switch campaign.

The game editor is also improved with a better scripting system and a wider variety of assets to use.

The Dragonfall campaign for Shadowrun Returns will be launched on the PC in January 2014 and will be completely free of any DRM.
