The standalone game should be released in August

As expected, Harebrained Schemes, the folks who revived the Shadowrun setting, are now back with yet another Kickstarter project that should provide fans with another cRPG set in a world that mixes magic and technology.

If you haven't heard about Harebrained Schemes, I'm sure you already know about Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall, both of which having been praised by media and players alike.

Starting today and until February 17, you have the chance to support Harebrained Schemes' new Shadowrun project that will take you to Hong Kong on Kickstarter.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a standalone game with a tentative release date of August 2015. The project will be funded if $100,000 (€85.000) is raised by February 17. I believe that this project will be funded in just a few days since going live and probably developers are thinking the same way because they already have some funding goals posted as well.

Those who already played the previous Shadowrun games released by Harebrained Schemes should know that Shadowrun: Hong Kong will have a completely different story and new characters.

Three characters will be joining the game, but if enough money is pledged, a fourth may be added. Duncan Wu is a security specialist with years of combat experience. Isobel will be your decker for the rest of the campaign in Hong Kong, while Gobbet is an ork shaman and a follower of Rat. Racter, a human rigger, is a stretch goal and will be added to the game if enough money is raised.

The game will only be released on PC (Windows), Mac and Linux

Although many players have felt that developers have focused more on making Shadowrun Returns compatible with tablets, this time the folks at Harebrained Schemes stated that they would only launch Shadowrun: Hong Kong on PC, Linux and Mac.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is going to take at least 12 hours to complete, and given developers' confirmation that they will focus all their efforts on PC, we expect the game to be at least on par with their latest Dragonfall release, which is awesome.

Other funding goals that add to the game's content include side missions, animatic scene transitions, enhanced players control and more animatic endings.

If you played any of the Shadowrun games released by Harebrained Schemes in the past, you are doomed to go pledge to this one too. If you haven’t, then this is the perfect opportunity to prove your support towards a great developer. You can now pledge for Shadowrun: Hong Kong on Kickstarter right now.
