14 DAY TRIAL // Developer Harebrained Schemes has managed to surpass the $1 million (€880k) mark of its crowdfunding campaign for Shadowrun: Hong Kong, securing the funding for an additional Hong Kong mini-campaign.
Harebrained Schemes' Kickstarter campaign is doing pretty well and has managed to reach its final funding goal with mere hours left on the countdown timer. The Hong Kong mini-campaign will consists of 4-5 hours of content, and gamers will be able to import their high-Karma characters to play it.
This isn't Harebrained Schemes' first foray into the realm of crowdfunding, as its biggest success yet was the Shadowrun Returns campaign of 2012, aiming to bring the popular pen and paper role-playing game setting to life once more.
Since then, the developer launched the game to notable success, and also released a follow-up, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, that was considered by fans even better in tone and writing than the acclaimed original.
Good news for cyberpunk fans
The game's unique cyberpunk meets fantasy setting secured it a loving place in many gamers' hearts, and now the company is looking to craft an entirely new adventure, set in an even more exciting location.
Players will be able to run missions in the neon-drenched city of Hong Kong, in the year 2056, in the midst of gang warfare and political turmoil. Hong Kong is one of the most successful business centers in the world and also home to one of the most dangerous sprawl sites.
The upcoming title will feature the same detailed character progression system seen in the previous games, and will have an even better storyline, set in a ton of exotic locales.
The gripping turn-based combat will be expanded with new meaningful choices, and the enhanced game engine will make the world come to life with an even more immersive quality than before.
Shadowrun: Hong Kong is scheduled to come to the Windows PC, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms.
