The new Shadowrun: Hong Kong upcoming game is a Kickstarter success less than a day since the crowdfunding campaign kicked off. Although Harebrained Schemes only asked for $100,000 for Shadowrun: Hong Kong, that amount was raised in just a few hours.

The next stretch goals listed on the game’s Kickstarter page were lined up to $300,000 and included a new character that could be added and several visual improvements, like animatic scene transitions and more animatic endings.

Well, it looks like 15 hours after the Kickstarter campaign started, all the initial goals have been met, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong is now on its way to the $1 million milestone, which doesn’t seem to be that hard to achieve in the next few days.

There’s also a new set of stretch goals that are meant to add new content to the game and make it more complex and immersive. Better sound, enhanced cyber, expanded magic and revamped Matrix are just some of the goals that Harebrained Schemes have in mind.

Shadrowun: Hong Kong will now have five main characters

A fifth character, Gaichu, will be joining the four that have been already confirmed. Side quests for some of the characters are part of these stretch goals as well, so depending on the amount of funds Shadowrun: Hong Kong manages to raise, the game will be better.

Now, many of you probably wonder why Harebrained Schemes did not fund this game with the money it got by selling Shadowrun: Returns and Dragonfall, and the answer is pretty simple.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is happening no matter the outcome of the Kickstarter. The difference is that instead of turning to a publisher for additional funds in order to make the game a lot better, Harebrained Schemes decided to let fans decide what stuff they want to put into the game.

Basically, the Kickstarter campaign is co-funding the game to make it better. And judging from what’s happening now with Shadowrun: Hong Kong on Kickstarter, I have no doubt it will reach $1 million by the end of the week.
