Shadowrun: Hong Kong, a new turn-based action game from the famous Harebrained Schemes studio, has been announced for the Linux platform and it's already making quite an impression on Kickstarter.

If the name of the game sounds familiar, then you should know that it's built by the same guys who made Shadowrun Returns & Dragonfall, so you know that you're in good hands. The developers didn't initially want any funds from the community to build this title, but they had too many good ideas they would have had to squander without enough money.

The developers started a new Kickstarter for Shadowrun: Hong Kong and they have been immensely successful. They managed to raise three times the amount of money they needed in just a day and they still have 34 more days to go. Our colleagues from the Games section covered in great detail the launch of the project on Kickstarter.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong to launch on Linux as well.

Given that the titles they built so far also had Linux clients, it was to be expected that Shadowrun: Hong Kong would also have support for the open source platform. Harebrained Schemes didn't disappoint us and Linux users will be able to play the game right from launch, which is expected to happen in August, 2015.

"A stable and prosperous port of call in a sea of chaos, warfare, and political turmoil. The Hong Kong Free Enterprise Zone is a land of contradictions - it is one of the most successful centers of business in the Sixth World, and home to one of the world’s most dangerous sprawl sites. A land of bright lights, gleaming towers, and restless spirits where life is cheap and everything is for sale," reads the Kickstarter entry.

The support for the Linux platform is not a goal and it's being implemented right from the start. If you want to support the game, all you need to do is to pledge at least $15 (€13), which will get you a copy of Shadowrun: Hong Kong.
