The development team at Flying Wild Hog announces that it is working on a re-imagining of the classic shooter Shadow Warrior, which will be launched late during the year on the PC and on current-generation consoles.

The team states via the official Facebook page that, “Our next project is finally revealed, we're working on a total reimagining of Shadow Warrior with Devolver Digital.”

Flying Wild Hog is made up of developers who have previously worked at CD Projekt RED, People Can Fly and City Interactive.

The original Shadow Warrior was inspired by Doom but took the familiar formula to the next level when it launched in 1997, offering a sword for the protagonist as well as special powers and a lot of slightly offensive catchphrases.

Hard Reset was a serviceable shooter in its own right and it will be interesting to see how the developers adapt the Shadow Warrior concept.
