The Grammys were the first "legitimate" red-carpet event in a long time (meaning not boycotted by the writers' strike) - and by the looks of it, celebrities were really looking forward to making themselves all pretty and hitting the red carpet wearing the latest in fashion. The result was that the overall glamor factor of the evening was higher than usual - or maybe I was longing for a display of haute couture just as much as all you fashion addicts out there. The fact is, here is a selection of red carper photos featuring some of the celebrities that came out of hiding for the Grammy Awards, and it's up to you to decide whether they rocked or sucked.
Let's start with the artists who also performed. Carrie Underwood rocked a black mini dress and an overall rock-chic look as she sang her hit single "Before He Cheats", but sported a more low-key, breezy long dress with a floral print when she took her seat in the audience and went on stage to accept her award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

I loved the stage outfit, but I'm not so sure about the other dress - I think it would have been more appropriate for a beach-side cocktail or party than for the Grammys. Also, I love Carrie to death but I'm not sure I like her new hair extensions. Maybe I've just developed a phobia ever since Lindsay Lohan started wearing plastic hair over the summer and I've grown to associate extensions with pure skankness. Beyonc also performed, and I think both the stage outfit and the dress were... well, pure Beyonc style. Well, at least she didn't flash her armpits too much - and I love the matching suits she and Tina Turner wore during their duo. So thumbs up to Beyonce for that.
Below are more photos of Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Fergie and Miley Cyrus. I love Alicia's dress - not sure about the hair 'do but it seems to fit her. Rihanna's dress is a little risque - she looks a bit like a gigantic, electric-blue bow waiting to be attached to a
wrapped present - and I think the red toenail polish doesn't compliment it too well, especially since she's wearing golden shoes, but since it's Rihanna, I think the outfit works overall. Just a question though - what was Brooke Hogan doing at the Grammys? I think Britney was more entitled than Brooke to be there, to be honest, and that's saying a lot. I must admit though, if you look from the neck down she doesn't look half bad - which makes me think there might be a small part of her not polluted by the fame-whoring factor that seems to affect her entire family - but I may be wrong.
As for Miley Cyrus, I swear she doesn't look a day over thirty. Really, now, she looks like she's Lindsay Lohan's twin sister, with the short-short dress and the ton of make-up. I mean, I know Christina Aguillera makes it look oh so sexy, but I have a feeling a fifteen year-old really doesn't need her face plastered with make-up like that, however famous she may be. Is it even worth mentioning that she's way too young to be sexing herself up like that? Probably not. Well, here's Miley looking like she's chewing on her lower lip with a fake smile plastered all over her face. Not what I'd call sexy. In any case, this is just my first fashion selection, stay tuned and keep your eyes on this space for more hot celebrity fashion.
