In a recent interview, the burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese agreed to share a bit of her personal life with her fans. While she made a name of herself for her raunchy acts on stage, during which she strips off completely of her vintage corsets and underwear, Dita is probably best known as Marilyn Manson's wife.
While some stars prefer to wear baggy clothes or even no clothes at all while in the privacy of their home, the dancer insists that her number on stage is not just an act, as it comes almost naturally to her. And she explains: the clothes she wears for her shows are the same ones she feels most comfortably in at home.
'I feel more comfortable in a fifties slip with a couple of holes in it and a stain on the front than in a pair of sweatpants with "University Whatever" on them', Dita said. However, she is still somewhat affected that people do not understand her, neither as an artist nor as a person.
The dancer stated that people in America are much more narrow-minded than Europeans and, as argument for her theory, she brings the fact that she tops almost all the worst dressed lists all over the US, while in Europe the situation is quite the contrary.
'I've got a collection of worst-dressed lists from magazines that I'm on and they're all in the US, and a bunch of the times I've been on the best-dressed lists and they're all from Europe', she explained. However, as misunderstood as she is in the States, Dita forgot to mention the fact that many magazines praised her for her vintage look and her memorable face and figure.
