Several Peruvian government websites, including the government’s main portal peru.gob.pe, have been breached and defaced by hackers of LulzSec Peru.

Besides peru.gob.pe, the hackers have also defaced the websites of the country’s CERT (pecert.gob.pe), the National Office for Electronic Government and Information Technology (ongei.gob.pe), and two sites of the Service Portal for Citizens and Businesses (serviciosalciudadano.gob.pe, tramites.gob.pe).

In addition to defacing the sites, hackers of LulzSec Peru have also leaked some data allegedly stolen from peru.gob.pe and ongei.gob.pe.

The hacktivists claim that Peru’s websites and email servers are hosted by Global Crossing, a company acquired by US-based Level 3 Communications in 2011. LulzSec Peru believes the telecoms company is helping the US National Security Agency (NSA) with its surveillance programs.

Currently, some of the targeted websites have been restored, while others have been taken offline.
