Admits Capcom

There are certainly a lot of fighting games in the gaming industry these days, each presenting its own unique character roster and interesting stories about its main heroes. Out of all of them, one of the most famous franchises is Capcom's Street Fighter, which has seen two motion pictures about its main characters.

As Street Fighter IV, the most recent full-fledged iteration of the famous series, was released at the beginning of spring, fans have been experimenting with all of the characters found in it. Most of them, sadly, came to the same conclusion, that end boss Seth and major villain Sagat were extremely powerful and would guarantee victories, even though their players might not be that skilled.

Now, speaking with Videogamer, Ryota Niitsuma, who is the assistant producer of the game and who is now working on the western version of the Wii-exclusive Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fighting game, admits that the two characters have turned out a bit too powerful in the end of the development stage.

“Yes, Seth and perhaps Sagat might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected,” Niitsuma says, also revealing that, “A good player of another character can always beat a good Sagat player or a good Seth player. I don’t think it’s too out of proportion, but we do acknowledge that they turned out a bit more powerful than we expected.”

The fact that the two characters are overpowered is highlighted by the top three players of Street Fighter IV around the world, who use either Sagat or Seth in their official matches, even though they prefer other characters when playing for leisure.

From your own experience, do you think that the two characters are too powerful or do you believe that they are alright as they appear as end bosses in the game? Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
