Server Admin Tools 10.6.4 is the latest version of Apple’s remote administration toolset, which includes documentation, and utilities that administrators can install on a Mac other than their server. The latest version available from Apple requires Mac OS X v10.6.4 and targets remote administration of Mac OS X Server v10.6.4.

The Server Admin Tools 10.6.4 are available via automatic Software Update for systems running Mac OS X v10.6.4 with version 10.6 or later of the Server Admin Tools already installed, and as a manual download from Apple Support Downloads, as well as from Softpedia (download link available below).

“The Server Admin Tools update is recommended for remote administration of Snow Leopard Server,” Apple states on its web site. “This update includes the latest releases of: iCal Server Utility; Podcast Composer; Server Admin; Server Monitor; Server Preferences; System Image Utility; Workgroup Manager; Xgrid Admin,” the company has confirmed. A knowledge base article over at the Mac makers Support area further sheds light on the contents of this update, detailing the changes for each modified component of the Server Admin Tools.

“Server Admin Tools 10.6.4 include all of the improvements included in previous updates to the Server Admin Tools for Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard,” Apple explains. “A complete list of improvements follows, including the update in which it first appeared.” For example, System Image Utility changes include new model filters for MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010) and the MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) product line under Mac OS X 10.6.4.
