The news that a 60-year-old man who currently lives in India is the owner and the proud wearer of what might be the largest turban in the world has taken the online community by storm.

The turban, a photo of which is available next to this article, tips the scale at 100 pounds (45.35 kilograms). When unwrapped, it measures a whopping 2,115 feet (roughly 644.65 meters) in length.

The 60-year-old who is lucky enough to own this turban and to walk around wearing it on his head is named Avtar Singh Mauni, Huffington Post informs.

He is a holy man, and whenever the wears the turban, he does it not because he wants to make a fashion statement, but to show his devotion. Thus, the 60-year-old admits that he only puts it on when visiting a local temple.

This man's temple-visiting outfit includes more than just this seriously oversized turban. When leaving for his worshiping place in the city of Patiala, the man also carries weapons whose combined weight is one of 87 pounds (39.4 kilograms).

Due to the weight of his head piece and that of the weapons he takes with him to the temple, the man can only get around via motorcycle. Some might consider such an outfit a burden, but 60-year-old Avtar Singh Mauni does not see things like this at all.

“I don't consider it to be a burden. I'm most happy when I wear it. I just keep putting on the cloth from top to bottom one layer at a time just like you would lay the stories of a building,” the man reportedly said in a statement.

“On the rare times I don't have my turban on I keep getting this feeling of being incomplete, that some part of me is missing. I get afraid that I may fall and I keep wondering 'Have I lost something, where is my turban?” he went on to add.

In case anyone was wondering, it looks like this holy man spends as much as 6 hours a day wrapping the turban around his head. All things considered, perhaps it would not be such a bad idea for him to quit taking it off after returning from the temple.

Provided that this head piece does indeed measure 2,115 feet (roughly 644.65 meters) in length when unwrapped, 60-year-old Avatar Singh Mauni has high chances to be crowned the wearer of the world's largest turban by Guinness World Records.

By the looks of it, the current record is held by a 1,312-foot-long (399-meter-long) turban worn by a man who also lives in India. Talking to the press, Avatar Singh Mauni admitted that he would simply love it if his outfit were to be documented by Guinness World Records.
