Samsung announced that people should be able to spot a new pair of laptops on the web, notebooks that don't actually belong to the same line but were detailed together nonetheless.

After introducing the SSDs bundled with a free copy of Batman: Arkham City, Samsung launched two notebooks, the Series 7 Gamer and Series 7 Chronos.

The former is the only that is now shipping, for a price of S$2,899, which is about the same as US$2,294.78 and 1,651.04 Euro.

It measures 17.3 inches in diagonal, has a 3D-capable LED-backlit LCD with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and runs on an Intel Core i7 quad-core CPU.

Said CPU is backed up by a high-end AMD Radeon HD series graphics adapter and all the storage, memory and connectivity one would ever need.

The 8GB ExpressCache system is present as well, for faster start-up and generally better overall computer performance.

Meanwhile, the Series 7 Chronos, while still powered by a CPU from the Intel Core i7 quad-core series, is not as hardcore as far as performance goes.

Then again, it would be more accurate to say that they aren't as focused on performance, since there are two Chronos models in the pipeline.

One of them (700Z3A) measures 13.3 inches and has a price of S$1,688 (US$1,336 / 961 Euro), while the other one (700Z5A) is a 15.6-inch item priced at S$1,988 (US$1,573 / 1,132 Euro).

They both feature the ExpressCache technology, for the same extra 8 GB of flash memory on the motherboard, like it is for the Gamer described above.

Samsung didn't include heavyweight hardware in these two, but did implement the “MAX Screen” technology, which extends the viewing area by about an inch.

Alas, the Series 7 Chronos laptops aren't selling yet and will only start shipping around the middle of next month (November, 2011).
