The Italian officials are trying to restore a pozitive image to the next Serie A season

Once the scandal in the Italian football arose - being involved several people from the club's officials to referees and refereeing bosses - Italy could seek the help of other countries concerning refereeing in Serie A. Although it started more like a rumor a couple of days ago, mainly since the Italian magistrates are still investigating the refereeing process, the information got an official note yesterday afternoon, due to a statement issued by the Chief of FIGC (Italian Football Federation), Guido Rossi.

The newly named president underlined the importance of this kind of measure on restoring a good image upon the Italian football and refereeing all together. Being criticized by most of the European officials, including FIFA president Sepp Blatter, for the illegalities found by the Italian judiciary system, the new chiefs of the Italian football are trying their best to change all that.

As a consequence, Rossi's proposal is focused on a future change of refereeing experience between Italy and the main European federations, like Germany, France, England and Spain - and maybe some more. Two or three referees from those countries would have to conduct Serie A marches, while the others will come from different parts of Europe.

Before settling an agreement with the above-named federations, Italy will first have to seek the approval of UEFA for this refereeing exchange. Still, the president of the Italian League, Adriano Galliani, said he is totally against the full refereeing exchange: "I don't see how this will benefit in any way our football. Not at all. We have to investigate and see who are the ones who made the mistakes, and who are the ones who are innocent. Two or three referees per round could happen, but under no circumstances I'm going to allow an all-foreign referee situation in Serie A. We will then lose all our credibility as refereeing is concerned. Plus, we have a great tradition in this field, and a lot of experience as well".

A final decision is to be made after the FIFA World Cup in Germany this summer, since all international bodies are now fully focused on that competition only.
