Former number one in women tennis Serena Williams will not be able to attend Rolland Garros and Wimbledon this year.
Following a knee injury that kept her out of the competitions for more than 4 months, she is expected to return to play competitive tennis at the end of the summer. She said that she wants to compete in the WTA Tour as soon as
possible, but the doctors don't want to take any chances with the American champ.
"These past months have been very frustrating for me personally. What I can tell you today based on what I am being told by my doctors is that I should be in a position to be playing again by the end of this summer. I'm more excited than ever to resume my playing career as soon as my body is ready. I want everyone to know that I will be back on the tennis court and that I fully intend to be competing on the WTA Tour in the coming months", said Williams for Eurosport News.
Following a series of fines by the WTA Tour officials for not attending some past tournaments, Williams now fell to a disappointing 106 place in the standings.
This means that, except for a few tournaments, she will not start as a seeded player.
